A best friends birthday should always be special, so I wanted to make sure that a belated celebration for Amy's 24th would be one to cherish. She had mentioned a restaurant called 'Sketch' and I was led to their web page. I was so impressed with Sketch's sophisticated execution of merging their three vital components into one 'lieu'. Sketch welds together art and and music with food at its centre, the result is a solidification of delightful myriads to experience.
We had dinner at 'The gallery by night' and were continuously distracted and enthused by quirky design touches which make 'Sketch' a truly unique venue. From the bread basket made out of Lego, Russian doll sugar pot, egg capsule toilets, to being shrouded in a cape if you decide to take a cigarette break. Sketch allows you to feel as though you are tapping into the world of design and innovation whilst enjoying conventional elements of a night out. This allows you to not only be an spectator but a participant in 'Sketch's' inimitable set up. Amy was given a surprise birthday plate lavished with pastel coloured macaroons and sweet treats and myself and the waitress sang a chorus of Happy Birthday!
After washing down our food with white green tea, we headed to 'The Glade' bar where you could mistake the pod-like architecture for being almost like a human roulette table. The clientele we met inside proved to encapsulate the ethos of the game. True players boasting about their millions and business trips to New York, after suppressing a few yawns and launching into a feminist rant Amy and I skipped over to 'The Parlour' and loved every minute of the d.j set in full swing. I still think of this night every time I hear Adele's 'Rolling in the deep' Jamie XX remix. Joyful times which lead me to toast two celebrations, my best friends birthday and Sketch's championing of a perfect party venue :)
