Scratching beneath the shiny surface

It would be easy to slip into the opulent, excessive and high class side of Hong Kong living.  She city makes you feel unbelievably aspirational.  Often though unless you qualify to make affluent aspirations a reality it is a standard of living strictly reserved for Saturday nights.  Thankfully that's just the way I like it. I like to indulge  in lavish trimmings once in a while but in all honesty smuggling Tsing Tao's into Sense99 and pretending to play the tambourine with timely rhythm is more my bag!

This is my favourite bar in HK and there's just something about having to press a buzzer on the metal gate to be let in which leaves the polished cocktail lounges of Soho paling in comparison.  The interior is front room-esq with natty wrinkling leather sofas and the atmosphere is equally relaxed.  Pick up an instrument and and join in the jam sesh.  If you feel like pushing the boat out go for a vodka and grapefruit, delightful.  There's also an outdoor terrace and no qualms about smoking inside.
